SHOHEI OHTANI Celebrates

The Los Angeles Dodgers brought the fireworks to Coors Field on Tuesday night, and it started with two big swings from Shohei Ohtani and Alex Call.

Ohtani launched his 44th home run of the season, keeping pace with Philadelphia’s Kyle Schwarber for the National League lead. Not to be outdone, Call matched a career high with four hits, including a homer of his own, as the defending World Series champs rolled past the Colorado Rockies, 11–4.

By the third inning, the Dodgers had already built a 7–0 lead against struggling starter Austin Gomber, who is still searching for his first win of the season. Ohtani and Call both went deep in the second inning, and Los Angeles never looked back.

The Dodgers’ offense was relentless, racking up 18 hits on the night. Will Smith stayed scorching hot, collecting three more hits to boost his NL-leading average to .308. Call fell just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle, while every Dodgers starter picked up at least one knock.

Meanwhile, Colorado found a small silver lining. Rookie Kyle Karros crushed his first major league homer, giving Rockies fans something to cheer about despite the lopsided score.

For the Dodgers, the victory was business as usual: their 11th win in 12 games against Colorado this season. For Gomber, it was another frustrating outing—he surrendered seven runs in three innings and hasn’t tasted victory in his last 15 starts, dating back to September 5, 2024.
