It was a shocking scene at the Evian Championship on Thursday when English golfer Charley Hull collapsed twice on the course due to a sudden viral illness.

Hull, 29, started her round strong — she was 1-under after 12 holes — but things took a scary turn on the 4th tee. She collapsed once before her shot, received immediate medical attention, then bravely stood up to hit her drive… only to collapse again. Tournament officials quickly stepped in and transported her off the course on a stretcher via golf buggy.

Medical checks confirmed Hull had a virus, but thankfully, no other serious issues were found.

Hull, one of the most recognizable faces in women’s golf, has four Ladies European Tour titles and two LPGA wins under her belt. Though she’s never clinched a major, she’s been heartbreakingly close — including a third-place finish at Evian in 2022.

Fans also remember her viral moment at last year’s U.S. Women’s Open, where a photo of her signing autographs with a cigarette in hand made the rounds on social media. Earlier this year, Hull said she’s quit smoking after a friendly bet pushed her to break the habit.

Here’s hoping she makes a full recovery soon — both fans and fellow players are eager to see her back in full swing.

Quick Recap:

  • Hull collapsed twice during the first round of the Evian Championship.
  • Diagnosed with a virus, but is otherwise okay.
  • She was 1-under after 12 holes before withdrawing.
  • Hull has 6 pro wins, but still chases her first major.

Wishing Charley a speedy recovery — the tour isn’t the same without her fire and flair. 🏌️‍♀️
